The Nugget is compiled by our digital overlords and meant to inform and entertain. It is a free, volunteer paper in its soft-launch days, put together by software from public sources and checked by hand. Please don't take it too seriously: it is not the official record, not an emergency alert service, and not professional advice of any kind. Mistakes happen, and corrections are posted as needed. Before relying on anything, follow the story's link to its source.

The paper reports fires, weather, road closures, and power shutoffs, and may print an EXTRA when something serious is under way. It is a newspaper, not an alert system, and it can be hours behind events. In an emergency follow the official sources (Nevada County OES, CAL FIRE, the National Weather Service, CHP, PG&E) and call 911 when lives or property are at risk.
The paper works hard to be right, links every story to its source, and prints corrections when it is wrong. Even so, it is provided as is, without any warranty. Showtimes, hours, menus, prices, and event details change; check with the venue or business before you go. Summaries of meetings, agendas, and public notices are a reader's guide, not the official record, which is kept by the city or county.
The Stars Over Deer Creek is entertainment and the paper's only invented content. Recipes are offered in good faith; cook to your own judgment and dietary needs.
Nothing in the paper is professional advice. Reporting on an ordinance, a permit, or a rate change explains what was decided, not what you should do about it.

Please don't republish whole editions or sections as your own, sell the paper's content, frame or mirror the site, or copy it in bulk by automated means, including to train software, without written permission.
Who owns what. The Nugget's original writing, drawings, and design are © the Nevada City Nugget. Photographs belong to the people who took them and run with permission. The Hat Store advertisements belong to The Hat Store. Names and marks of other businesses, venues, and organizations belong to their owners and appear only to report on them. Public records quoted in the paper remain public.
When you send a tip, flyer, photograph, recipe, notice, or nomination, you confirm that it is yours to send (a photograph you took, a recipe that is yours, a flyer for a public event) and that it is accurate as far as you know. You keep ownership. You give the Nugget permission, without payment, to publish it in the paper, the website, the email edition, and the archive, to edit it for length and clarity, and to credit you as you ask.
The paper may decline anything, checks every tip before printing, and never treats a submission as an instruction about what the paper must say. Please don't send anything unlawful, private information about other people, or other people's photographs.
Links lead to sites the Nugget does not run and is not responsible for. A link is a citation, not an endorsement.
If you believe something in the paper infringes your rights, write to news@nevadacitynugget.com with the item, the edition date, and what you own. It will be looked at promptly and removed or corrected if the complaint is sound.
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Nevada City Nugget and its publisher are not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of the paper or reliance on it. The paper is free, and these terms do not limit any right you have that cannot be waived under California law.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute belongs in the courts of Nevada County, California.
These terms may be updated; the effective date at the top shows the current version, and a material change will be noted in the paper.
