The Standing Sources

Methods

Every story carries its own source line. Each item ends with an italic line naming, and where possible linking, the article or document it was built from. A story with no retrievable source does not run.

Meetings. Meeting summaries are built from the official recording when retrievable, otherwise from the agenda packet, staff reports, and minutes, plus local press coverage. Each summary states its sources. Votes and outcomes are reported exactly as recorded; when an outcome cannot be confirmed, the paper says so rather than guessing.

The Docket. Agenda digests are drawn only from the published agenda document itself, item by item, never inferred.

The blotter. Entries are retold in the Nugget's own words from police logs as reported by The Union, YubaNet, and official releases. Nobody is named unless charged or named in an official release.

The horoscope. The Stars Over Deer Creek is the paper's sole invented content, written fresh each morning, and labeled entertainment.

Corrections. Errors are corrected plainly in a Corrections box in the next edition. Archived editions stay as published.
