What the Paper Knows About You
Effective October 27, 2026
This paper does not watch you read it. nevadacitynugget.com sets no cookies, runs no analytics or visitor counters, carries no advertising trackers, and has no accounts or sign-in. The only personal information the Nugget holds is what you choose to send it, such as a letter, a tip, or a flyer.
Two outside companies do see your visit in the ordinary course of serving a web page, and they are named below.
✱ ✱ ✱ ✱ ✱
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc. GitHub states that when a GitHub Pages site is visited, the visitor's IP address is logged and stored for security purposes. The Nugget does not receive or read those logs. See GitHub's note on Pages and the GitHub General Privacy Statement.
The paper's typefaces (Besley, Source Serif, and the Grenze Gotisch nameplate) are served by Google Fonts. To draw them, your browser asks Google's servers for the font files, so Google receives that request, including your IP address, under its own policies. See the Google Fonts FAQ.
The "☞ Wire" share button works entirely inside your own browser. Texting, emailing, sharing, or copying a section hands the text to your own phone or mail program; nothing about it is sent to the Nugget. The page also reads your device's light or dark setting to pick its colors, and keeps nothing.
Every story links to its source, and the paper links to venues, ticket sellers, the radio station, and public agencies. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover.
What you might send. Letters and questions to news@nevadacitynugget.com; news tips and event flyers; and, as those features open, photographs, recipes, pet notices, and nominations. A message carries whatever you put in it plus your email address and name as your mail program shows them.
How it is used. Only to report, check, and publish what you sent, to credit you when you ask to be credited, and to write back. A tip is checked against independent sources before anything prints. The paper does not sell, rent, or trade your information, does not share it for advertising, and does not add you to any mailing list because you wrote in.
Who helps handle it. The Nugget's mail is kept with Google's email service, and the paper is compiled by software (Claude, made by Anthropic), which may read submitted tips and flyers in order to verify and write them up. Those companies handle the information under their own terms (see Anthropic's privacy policy).
Your name in print. A tip runs as "a reader tip" without your name unless you ask for credit. Photographs, recipes, and nominations run only with the sender's permission, credited as the sender asks. A lost-pet notice carries only the contact details the owner asks to print, and comes down once resolved.
How long it is kept. As long as it is useful for the reporting and the paper's records. Ask and we will delete your messages, except where something already published has to stand as printed.
Today the morning and evening emails go to a small personal list, and nobody is on it who did not ask. A public subscription list is planned. Before the first sign-up opens, this page will be updated to name the newsletter service, say what it records (typically your address and whether a message was opened), and explain how to unsubscribe, which every issue will let you do in one click.
The Nugget does not track readers over time or across other websites, and lets no one else do so through this site. There is nothing for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to switch off, so the site behaves the same with or without one.
You may ask what information the Nugget holds from you, ask that it be corrected, or ask that it be deleted, by writing to news@nevadacitynugget.com. The paper does not sell or share personal information as California law defines those terms, and will not treat you differently for asking.
The paper is written for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly collect information from them; if a child has written in, a parent may ask and the message will be deleted.
The site is static pages with no forms and no database, which keeps the surface small. No method of sending or storing information is perfectly secure, so please do not email anything you would not want seen, such as passwords or financial details.
The effective date at the top shows the latest version. A material change will be noted in the paper on the day it takes effect.
